NEW HAIR always brings a fresh start. A trending hair colour will update your beauty look, a new haircut will lift your mood, and a new signature hairstyle could even help you reinvent yourself.
As London-based celebrity hairstylist Larry King declares, “2025 will be the year of embracing your individuality. Get ready to see a notable array of contrasting lengths and natural textures for the year ahead.” From Jane Birkin bangs and the Italian bob to espresso brown hair, copper hair colours and the return of the side part, the options are endless.
Here, BAZAAR has curated the best hair trends of 2025 with guidance from hairstylists and hair inspiration to save for your next salon visit (or the next time you’re feeling like an impulsive change).

2025 haircut trends
This year, hair is about extremes: “Short styles [should] dare to go even shorter and long hair even longer,” says Larry King. So commit to a hair growth routine and maintain long, healthy tresses — or take the leap to a scissor-happy bob.
1. The Italian bob

With textured ends and length that hits anywhere between the jawline and the top of the shoulders, the Italian bob has steadily become the trending haircut of the year — just look to Raye, for example. It’s also the ideal cut for bob beginners because of its one-length outline and very subtle layering. “[This] will allow the freedom to wear your hair in different ways, effortlessly,” explains King. Then once the temptation to go shorter sets in later in the year, King suggests going for “a blunter and glossier finish that’s bold and sleek”.
2. Jane Birkin bangs

Jane Birkin is synonymous with her curtain bangs, and they continue to crop up in the latest hair trends. Daisy Edgar-Jones is the latest to cut Jane Birkin bangs and prove the effortless, wispy fringe is a timeless choice to change up your hair and tap into the undone French aesthetic.
3. The jellyfish haircut

As seen on Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga at the 2025 Grammys, the jellyfish haircut creates bold contrast in long hair. While layers are usually graduated into the hair or gently shaped to frame the face, the jellyfish haircut throws away the rulebook to cut visible layers that sit at the cheeks or jawline with longer hair falling behind the shoulder.
2025 hair colour trends
For those considering a new, trending hair colour, “make a mood board of all of the colors that attract your eye,” advises Jenna Perry, a celebrity colourist, founder of her eponymous New York City salon and Olaplex Global Ambassador. “I also like to find people who have [similar] attributes as mine and that always helps guide you in the right direction,” adds Perry.
4. Espresso brown hair

For darker shades, Jenna Perry says “I predict we’ll be seeing a lot of suede brunettes in 2025.” So opt for a deep brunette shade like espresso brown hair that feels luxurious and velvety just like the suede Perry describes. It’s also an ideal colour for brunettes returning to their roots — like Lily Collins, Kaia Gerber and Bella Hadid — as it can be achieved with a in-salon gloss or at-home colour treatment.
5. Honey blonde hair

“Blonding is still going to be more naturally painted, while remaining bright yet thoughtfully placed,” notes Jenna Perry. By creating fine highlights in golden hair, strands will look like they’ve been naturally hit by the summer sun (and in another win, the painting technique will make the blonde highlights easier to maintain than traditional foils) — look at Lila Moss for the perfect demonstration.

6. Copper hair

Copper is staying strong as the statement hair colour of choice for 2025, and Emily Ratajkowski is the proof. Jenna Perry says to select a silky copper red when changing to copper hair — so look for a shade that soft and autumnal, and falls somewhere in-between a vibrant copper and the brunette-tinged cowboy copper of seasons past.
7. Cherry cola hair

A favourite of Dua Lipa, cherry cola hair is another trending take on red hair. It’s a deep and moody maroon, so cherry cola hair will feel closer to the comfort zones of those with dark roots compared to a vibrant copper. This shade will be prone to fading though, so a colour-safe haircare routine is essential to keep the red rich and strands shining.
2025 hairstyling trends
With new hair muses coming from the fashion and pop culture worlds, this year’s hair style trends are niche to an aesthetic. Think: a Noughties side part, Olsen sister-worthy waves or Sabrina Carpenter’s doll-like curls.
8. Deep side parts

“We will see the reincarnation of the side part — think Noughties deep side-parting swept across the forehead with the part [line] getting deeper and deeper,” says Adam Livermore, an Oribe Hair Care Global Artist. “The key is to understand [in which direction] your hair grows.” He suggests that, generally speaking, parting your hair on the right-hand side will encourage more volume and a sexy flick, while a left alignment offers a smoother sweep.
9. Tousled ’90s hair

“Embrace the tousled and shaggy look”, says Larry King, naming Cara and Poppy Delevingne and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen as muses. “We saw a lot of distressed, deconstructed and imperfect, perhaps even grungy or rebellious, textures,” adds Adam Livermore of the ’dos on the Spring Summer 2025 runways. “It’s a great way to take a classic, everyday look and give it a bolder, edgier feeling. It’s lived-in gritty meets glam,” he adds.
10. Sleek ponytails

Ponytails are coming after slicked-back buns as the new, everyday hair style. As seen on the Spring Summer 2025 runways and this year’s awards season red carpets on the likes of Hoyeon Jung, “the collections have sparked hair trends with a sporty feel,” says Livermore, who appreciates how casual ponytails and headbands complement the season’s athleisure aesthetic.
11. Brushed-out blowdry

Courtesy of couture and pop culture references, Livermore cites the revival of set and brushed, voluminous curls as a key styling cue perfected by the likes of Kaia Gerber. “Classic looks from the ’50s through the ’90s with a slightly modern twist have a throwback feeling that’s a refreshing departure from the beach waves we’ve seen everywhere for the last decade or so,” he says.
